Introduction to the Vegan Collar Review
Liebe Seele asked me if I wanted to review pieces from their Metallic Shade series, and of course, curious as I am, I said yes! I’ve reviewed Liebe Seele products many times over the years. They make good-quality BDSM gear, and you can tell the people behind it understand the lifestyle. This vegan collar with nipple clamps is the first of two pieces from the series that I’m reviewing; the wrist cuffs follow soon. So let’s check it out!
First Impressions: Unboxing the Collar
The packaging is classic Liebe Seele: a sleek black box with a white sleeve that shows a picture of the collar, Japanese lettering and the product description in English.
Inside you find the collar and, separately, a rose-gold chain with the nipple clamps.
The colour is the first thing you notice. It’s a deep, shimmering burgundy with rose-gold hardware, and it looks really glamorous, especially in photos.
What Is the Metallic Shade Vegan Collar?
This collar is vegan: no animal leather at all. According to the box, the collar is made of PU, nickel-free metal and rubber, and the Metallic Shade series is made of iridescent burgundy PU, with a plush burgundy inner lining and rose-gold hardware. The nipple clamps come on their own rose-gold chain, which you clip onto the D-ring at the front of the collar, so you can wear the collar with or without them. The clamps have a small screw, so you can adjust how tight they are.
How the Vegan Collar Feels
This is where I have to be honest. I’ve come to love Liebe Seele’s thick, real leather, and this collar is a different kind of product. Because it’s PU, it’s thinner and lighter, and it has a slight plastic feel and smell.
The box mentions a plush inner lining for the series, but the collar doesn’t have one (the cuffs do). On the inside you feel the backs of the metal studs against your skin. I’m sensitive to metal, so I can only wear it for short periods, which was never a problem with their older collars. To be fair: the back of the box says the metal is nickel-free, and nickel is the metal most people react to. That’s good to know! My own allergy only shows up after wearing something for a couple of days, so I’m still a little wary. If you have metal-sensitive skin, keep that in mind.
The clamps are the nicer surprise. Thanks to the screw you can set them to mild, which makes them friendly for a first try. The chain to the clamps is very thin, though, and feels delicate. I’d handle it with care.
Who Is the Vegan Collar For?
I’d recommend this set to beginners, especially if you’d like to find out whether a collar and nipple clamps are your thing before you invest in something bigger. It’s pretty, it’s adjustable, it’s affordable, and it’s vegan, so it’s an easy way to start, and a nice option if you don’t want animal leather. Just don’t expect a piece that lasts you for many years.

Verdict: Is the Vegan Collar Worth It?
The Metallic Shade collar looks lovely, it’s vegan and affordable, and the adjustable clamps make it a gentle first step into this kind of play. It isn’t the thick, long-lasting quality I’m used to from Liebe Seele, and the metal on the inside won’t suit everyone. It’s a nice try-out piece. If you’re looking for a forever collar, Liebe Seele’s real leather pieces are the ones to look at, like the Rose Gold Memory collar and nipple clamps I reviewed in 2023. And the wrist cuffs from this same series do have the soft lining, so stay tuned for that review!
