Review of Sir Rosewood – McHurt.eu – Paddle with Holes

In all aspects of life, I rely heavily on inspiration. Things I talk about with friends, stuff I see on TV or something I find online. Within my BDSM journey, this is the same. For lack of real-life inspiration, I turn to what I find online. So when I was visiting a BDSM market in Germany, and I saw this paddle with holes, I knew I wanted to try it. Packaging

In all fairness, I bought this paddle on a market in Germany. I chose one from the rack, told the salesperson I would like to buy one, she went into the back to grab a new one and handed it to me. That’s it. There was no packaging to speak of. I can imagine if you were to order this online, it would be decently wrapped, but since my product came through another stream, I can’t say for sure.

Description

Sir Rosewood is big. I didn’t realize how big it is until I read the product description on the website. Yes, it was bigger than the Aldi cutting board paddle we used until we got this one, but I still thought this was like an average size paddle. Well, even for a paddle, this guy means serious business.
It’s about 29 x 10 centimetres with the handle being an extra 15 centimetres. The thickness is about 13 millimetres. At the end of the handle is a hole with a leather string for easy storage. The entire instrument weighs about 350 grams.
The wood has been polished and sealed, but not lacquered as it would scratch and spall easily, according to the website.
The holes have been drilled evenly, and there are no sharp edges to them. The entire instrument has a pleasant burnt wood smell to it.
The website also warns you not to use aggressive cleaners on the paddle, but instead to only use water. Let’s see how Sir Rosewood has been doing in my house.

My Experience

Remember that line from the first paragraph? ‘How bad can it be?’ Well, let me assure you: pretty bad! Sir Rosewood delivers Pain with a capital P. The holes in the sturdy wood change the airflow, making the impact a thousand times stronger than my regular paddle. As recommended on the website, we only use it on my butt, and luckily I’m big enough to be able to withstand some impact.
Let me put it to you this way: with the Aldi cutting board paddle, I could take on a hundred swats in one go. With Sir Rosewood I can go to about fifteen, maybe twenty if we’re stretching it. But no more, because it stings way too much. If my husband swings it a bit too broadly, it’ll even leave bruises.

Is this bad? Of course not. We’re doing for impact play, we want things to hurt. I cringe whenever my dominant takes this one out of the closet, but I know I’m gonna enjoy the afterglow. After all, a paddle that doesn’t hurt wouldn’t be doing his job correctly.

Conclusion

I’ve welcomed Sir Rosewood as an esteemed guest into my house. As a spanking instrument, it’s large and heavy, but with the perfect design and finishing, it makes for a great BDSM toy. Well, I don’t know if I could call it a toy. It’s not for the faint-hearted.
